Volunteers
To get involved
Would you like to be a part of the community-oriented team behind 24hrs Inline Montreal? We'd love to have you with us! By lending a hand, you could play a role in helping us raise funds for the Quebec Division of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada. Each volunteer will receive a souvenir gift for his/her involvement at the 24hrs Inline Montreal.
The 24h Inline Montreal organization is currently looking for volunteers to fill a number of job openings. If you are interested in helping us with any of these positions please contact us stating the opening you are interested in with your experience and we'll get back to you. Give us also your time availabilities and other preferences if any.
Webmaster
As the webmaster, you will be in charge of updating the content of the web site (text and pictures), publishing online the race results and adding new features to the web site. You must have extensive experience with PHP, MySQL, PhotoShop, CSS and HTML. Good French and English writing skills are an important asset.
The transfer of expertise will be throughout the 2008th edition in order to be autonomous for the 2009 Edition. The Webmaster is invited to the organization’s meetings, however participation is optional.
Accountant
Bookkeeping for the 24hrs Inline Montreal non-profit organisation: with Simply Accounting, twice a year (beginning of August and November). Provide income statement and balance sheet in paper and electronic form. Ideally you are located in the Montreal area so it will be easier for exchanging papers. The fiscal year is from December to November.
Cleaning Services
We are looking for a cleaning service company willing to offer a sponsorship or submit a service offer. Please contact us for more information. The following provides more details:
Duration 27 hours: Saturday June 6th 12:00 pm (noon), until June 7th, 3:00 pm. Maintaining the 3 washrooms clean including: cleaning toilets, filling soap & paper dispensers (counter & stalls), keeping clean counters, floors (mop or broom) and mirrors, emptying garbage bins located in the toilets and on site and disposing of garbage bags at a designated area by Parc Jean Drapeau. Additional requests could be made, if needed (e.g., cleaning inside a paddock in case of a spillage, etc.). All cleaning supplies and tools must be supplied.
Security Services
We are looking for a security service company willing to offer a sponsorship or submit a service offer. Please contact us to discuss the details.
Duration 37 hours: 2 positions Saturday June 6th 7:00 am to 1:00 pm, one position 1:00 pm to 12:00 pm Sunday, 2 positions Sunday, June. 7th 12:00 pm to 14:00 pm.
General surveillance of the site (check if rules are applied, for example no alcohol, etc.), insure that teams respect their designated spaces in the paddocks, and that circulating areas at the back of the paddocks are free at all times (no tents, etc.) for easy access to the bathrooms. Make sure tents in front of the paddocks are respecting the rules (for example no company logos, and set-up in the designated areas, etc.). Manage the flow of cars at the arrival of participants in the designated unloading area and after drop-off, direct cars for parking behind the paddocks or in the parking lot.
Volunteers during the event
We require 3 types of volunteers for this event. Let us know what position you would like and your availability: morning, / afternoon / evening / night. We assign volunteers based on 4-hour shifts. If you can work for more than 4 hours, make sure you let us know. You’ll receive a souvenir of the even and have supplies of food/water depending on the time of the day.
- Set-up / Disassembly: Your help is required to set-up the all that is necessary for the 24hrs Inline Montreal: dividing paddocks, putting up banners, placing chairs & tables in the terrace area, etc. Set-up: starting Friday 2:00 pm / Disassembly: starting Sunday 2:00. You can volunteer for one or the other, or for both.
- Information: Help answer questions from skaters and the general public about the services offered during the event, and all other information. You will receive a list of frequently asked questions (also found on the website) and you will also have access to the organizers of the event if you need help answering questions.
- Course surveillance: direct skaters on the course at three strategic areas, help insure skaters apply the rules and signal flagrant infractions to the person in charge of Surveillance. All three surveillance spots come with chairs, a table and a sun umbrella.
